Hi Jay,
Your Spencer 880 was a close cousin to the 888 CO2 freezing
microtome. These were sold in the 1940s. The 888 freezing microtome lasted
a bit longer than the paraffin version. If anyone on the Histonet has an
old CO2 style, you might salvage parts. Specimens blocks (wax) were melted
on an object holder (metal) with a stem and then placed on the microtome.
Sorry to say as the original manufacturer, there are no parts available.
Best regards,
Don

I've just purchased an old 880, however it is missing a few pieces. The
crank at the top, what appears to be a vise to hold the specimen, and
possibly a rod that runs from the vise down to the adjusting crank.
Are there any sources for these parts? Could I adapt a small vise to work?
Sorry if these descriptions are not accurate..it's the best I can do from a
picture.
Thanks
Jay Stanley
