is your tissue retrieved? does it have a high biotin level more that average ie: liver or spleen?  was a rinse not well done? is this automated? could it be a machine mixing issue?
new secondary antibody? higher protein content? different fixation then before? tissue necrotic on edges,dry edges?
any oneor all of these could be a reason for edge effect,could you give us more info?         dana
