[Histonet] Microtomy on wood

Mark,
Steve Ruzin has a book on plants, Plant Microtechnique and Microscopy, 
which has a lot of info on wood from fixation to sectioning and staining 
and including how to soften it up. Also there is another book - Plant Cell 
Biology edited by Chris Hawes and Beatrice Satiat-Jeunemaitre, where you 
might find some helpful information. I have never had the pleasure of 
processing and cutting wood but I'm working on a project with seeds and 
they are also very hard. I have just completed the processing and microtomy 
awaits!
