Being a teaching hospital, the pathology residents (during their rotation) take care of gross descriptions and autopsies. No need for PAs.

I would like to get an idea of how many hospitals that contract in the Pathologist group to read slides produced by hospital employed Histotechs, have that Pathologist group paying the salary of their PA's.  I have heard that many facilities are no longer employing the PA's that actually are performing the Pathologist's job of gross dissection (hence the name Pathologist Assistant, huh).  In these tough financial times we all are looking for ways to lessen our costs.  You can reply to me directly rather than clog up the histonet.  THANKS!!
