[Histonet] HSV1/2 controls or virus controls in general

M. Kap m.kap.1 <@t> erasmusmc.nl

Hi histonetters,

We formed an alliance with our virology department. They use virus cell culture to determine virus titers and such, so I came up with the idea to let them culture loads of cells, infect them with all kinds of viruses and than simply make paraffin blocks of the cells.

They use standard methods, so very constant viral loads, so very standard controls... We have great results with BK-virus and Influenza virus so far. Guess it can be done for HSV1/2 also.

Not sure if the site is updated yet, since we only recently started doing this, but check out www.cqpath.com for control tissues et cetera.

Ciao for now,

Marcel

Subject: [Histonet] Dako HercepTest Kit

Hello Histonet,

Regarding the negative reagent control on the HercepTest Kit from Dako, order # K5207.? We wrote CAP about this and this was their reply:

CAP would still require the laboratory to abide by any manufacturer instructions that may be more stringent than the CAP requirement.

Since this kit is FDA approved, and the negative control reagent is included in the kit, our facility has decided to continue to do the negative reagent control.

Hope this helps,

Cindy

Hello everyone,

Does anyone out there have some good HSV control tissue they could share with us? We have a lot of control tissue that we could offer as a trade if interested. Just let me know what you need.

We have tried using the NSH tissue control bank, but have had no luck.

Thanks.

Anatech Ltd here in Michigan has a very nice stain for HP I think it is
only a couple of components that can be purchased by the quart or the
gallon.

H. Pylori by IHC; automated. I believe they're pretty much routinely ordered; sure seems like it anyway!
