I typically fix my frozen slides in 4% PFA or 10% NBF for 30min at 4C before staining.  Antigen retrieval isn't usually necessary for frozens, even fixing them before staining  - but it still depends on the antigen....for some targets in frozen brain sections of mice - I have used a 5% Formic Acid retrieval.  Also, for other targets on frozen sections - if needed - I like the Uni-Trieve low temperature retrieval solution. It works nicely and doesn't affect the tissue.
