You absolutely can do this, but you have to use a permanent, stable end product on the first antibody staining. This is easy to do if you use DAB as the first staining technique chromogen. The antigen retrieval will probably remove all antibody-antigen bonds (elution) from your first IHC reaction, so having a permanent label on the first one is critical.
