Well, this pathologist was dragged screaming away from B-5 - and I've
brewed plenty of it out of the dry chemicals myself - but you really
can't use it any more. I was surprised to find out that it's still
available, but it still is.
I haven't found any of the substitutes to be worthwhile. The major
advantage of B-5 was that it's a rapid fixative (for small specimens).
Lymphoid tissue and marrow really need to be fixed overnight in
neutral buffered formalin, for optimal fixation.
