Julie: I believe the change occurred due to safety. Toluene and Benzene are highly toxic, stray away from them.

I am working on a research project and am reaching out to my fellow
"histoneters" for help. Does anyone know why the histology process changed
from using benzene to toluene and now xylene? How did it transition?
