Do they remove their gloves, wash their hands and remove other
protective gear before sipping their coffee?
Might seem to defeating the purpose doesn't it?

Nope, can't do it.

I've seen some research labs that have small shelves outside the lab 
door where people park their covered coffee cups so they can run out 
for a quick gulp. Kind of reminds me of rats pressing on levers for 
food pellet rewards.
